Assassins aren't that great at talking out the bases/capturing them by themselves. Their light armor makes them easy to kill by the NPCs. NPCs: Eles with crazy damage spike. Necros with crazy degen. Mesmers with crazy annoyingness. Rangers aren't that bad. They do quite a bit of damage. Warriors with damage.
Anyways...you'll be better off running a W/Mo in AB if you want to solo points. However, Asns are nice to kill with.

Assassins are fine. They are best at taking out enemy monks or MMs.
Assassins need a stable group more than most professions. They are rarely able to accomplish much by themselves (unlike, for instance, properly set up elementalists, warriors, or rangers, who can solo most or all shrines). This isn't a big downside, since most of the time you should be with at least one ally anyway (in order to cap more than twice as fast as you could alone).

Like the above post, assassins are pretty nice to have in AB generally they are lethal to monks and that can really affect the battle.
I have played a monk in AB a bit too and their awesome when I can dedicate heals to them. So stay in range of your monk and you should be good to go.

I play a degen sin, in AB they are fragile and usually prefer to fight one target at a time.
My sin build can accomplish the following:- Kill a warrior that is not using any defensive type of stance. If so, A/W would use Wild Blow to counter or Mirrored Stance.
- Cap Warrior Shrines on Etnaran or Grenz (By carefully aggroing wars one by one)
- Cap Ressurect Shrines
- Cap Ritualists (You have to be fast or else spirits come)
- Eliminate any casters or monks.
- Become a thorn in the side of the casters of the other team.

i usually play a assassin in AB, quite fun. usually expect to die around 5 times a match though, mainly due to MM's seeing you as a threat and sending 10 minions on you...
In saltspray you can easily solo the Rits, and the attack points if you know how to kill quickly and get out effectively. rez shrines can be solo'd, need lots of knockdowns (ie, see the yanssassin thread in the assassin sub forum) to stop them healing themselves.
They are great fun, if you get targeted itll probably be a touch or a wammo which can be easily taken down with knockdowns, degen and the pure damage of a sin. kinda fun hearing some wammo's shouting at you for not being able to play a sin properly when you killed them in 6 seconds with knockdowns not allowing them to retaliate.

interestingly enough my sin has only been in a fight on saltspray, and I amable to RELIABLY solo cap any shrine. As long as there is no interference form humans of course.Tho I have solo'd the rez shrine with the NPC monk and an enemy human there.
oh and celab I have actually pissed off a warrior so bad he was like "Assassins FTL" so I told him I would kill him again, he said "try me" so I killed him.. funny stuff

Aw man... the other day I had low health with a wammo chasing me so he said something like, "harvey birdman ur name iz gay adn ur a wimp u cant kill anything". So I replied, "Oh?", turned around, and killed him. So a minute later I was hanging around at a shrine with a team and he came charging along at us (me), stopping first to put on Mending.
Anyway, yeah, the guy above me is right. AoD shock seems to be able to cap anything except elite eles and maybe the necroes.

I used AoD hoto but anyway, it's extremely funny the kurzicks wised up to mein acouple battles today, they kept trying to take me one on one all day and I would destroy every class I faced, but then they got smart, this dang hammer warrior got his little degen mesmer buddy to go with him wherever he went and he chased me around all the time absolutely murdering me... jerks, I still had a laugh tho.I was like "HA! It takes two of you to kill a little SIN? Weaklings!" I was absolutely mauling their team tho, I had like 50 health left after I soloed a hammer warrior who kept KDin me, then this little ele came up and started to cast a fireball on me so I KD him and put poison, bleed,DW on him but he got off a flare before he died and killed me but it was sooo funny sitting there dead watching his life degen away, I mocked him saying "Silly little ele tried to kill me after I murdered you warrior friend and you got killed by a sin with 50 HP!"

I find a team containing a Golden Phoenix Strike assassin and a Shock Assassin works perfectly well with one another.

I love using my degen sin (a/mo), nothing makes the tank/caster more angry then to let him rush you, and although he may kill you he doesnt realise that he has bleed, poison, DW, SW and cripple/blind on him, so he dies like 3-5 secs later from over degening. only weakness to my degen sin is taking more then 1 enemy on, which you shouldnt do anyway.

Sounds like Assassins are pretty vindicated. People think they are fine to 1-on-1 anything, and more than that is bad.
Sounds like a good definition of an Assassin. =)

My guild team usually runs an assassin. We like to split and regroup, so we use characters that are pretty strong on their own. While an assassin isn't a great survivor, it's great for taking down a stray solo character. He's great for taking down the other team's solo cappers.

i run a pretty standar A/R ( i think its standard from what ive seen):
sharpen dagger (bleed)
apply poison (poison)
(the if-enchanted gain 10 energy) strike
fox fang
twisting fang (DW, Bl)
Iron Palm (skill counts as off hand- for reapplying twist)
Troll U (hey sometimes you just gotta run away)
and then Rez- Or in alliance battle... I use Storm Chaser
Can anyone critique this build, possibly offer up a better off hand attack then fox fangs?
---------------------
btw i use ungues of the oni primarily... although i have a few others...

Assasins to me are like mesmers a big help if they know what they are doing. And the majority of assasins I have ran into in AB know what they are doing. Assasins are the best when there solo (as said above)
